BASED Cracks $0.13 Shelf as Bithumb Rally Unwinds Into May Unlock

BASED is down 18.52% over 24 hours to $0.1155 on its hyna HIP-3 perp, breaking through the $0.131 floor that held since the token's April 21 Bithumb KRW listing. The Korean retail bid that took price as high as $0.16 with RSI near 80 is now flushing back toward the $0.109 secondary shelf flagged at listing as the line a profit-booking unwind would target. Hanging over the chart: the May 11 Season 3 claim that unlocks 50M tokens, 5% of supply with no vesting, two weeks out.

Mover Brief

The Bithumb Pop Is Giving It All Back

This is a textbook post-listing fade. BASED began trading on Bithumb on April 21 at a 167 won reference, ripped to $0.16, and put RSI near 80 — overbought into a single retail catalyst with no follow-on news. The same writeup that flagged the rally also flagged the technical structure that would unwind it: support at $0.131 to $0.109, breakdown below the upper band triggering profit-taking. The hyna perp tagging $0.1155 means the upper rail is gone and price is hunting the lower one. Korean flow at Bithumb has not been a one-way bid lately either — exchange volume across the venue fell 31.3% in Q1 2026, so the demand pocket that absorbed early-listing supply is structurally thinner than it was a few quarters ago.

Worth noting what BASED actually is, because the ticker draws confusion. The hyna:BASED market is the perp on the BASED team's HyENA venue, a USDe-margined HIP-3 perp DEX built on Hyperliquid by the highest-revenue app on the chain. The token sits at the consumer layer above that — trading, prediction markets, payments in a non-custodial wrapper. Real product, real revenue underneath; that's not the question. The question is what holds the bid once a Korean listing burns off.

The Setup: Thin Book, Clean Levels

24-hour HIP-3 perp volume on hyna:BASED is $71,248. That is a number you can move with a single market sell of meaningful size, and it is part of why the move looks violent on the chart even when the dollar flow behind it is small. The book is following the Ethereum spot quote — same dynamic flagged when the perp was grinding sideways on $80K of volume during the listing week — so price discovery here is a derivative of whatever the spot venue is printing, not an independent signal.

The levels traders are working with are clean. $0.131 was the lower bound of the post-listing range; that's broken. $0.109 is the next reference, called out as the line below which short-term holders flip into forced sellers. Between here and there is roughly 6%, and on $71K of daily volume there is not much in the order book to slow it down.

What's Sitting Two Weeks Out

The reason this break matters more than a normal listing-pop unwind: there is a known supply event on May 11. The Season 3 claim unlocks 50M BASED tokens — 5% of supply, no vesting, straight to claimants. Markets that are already underwater going into a no-vesting unlock tend to see the unlock front-run rather than absorbed. Anyone holding from the Bithumb pop has a decision to make in the next two weeks, and the chart structure is now telling them the answer.

Broader context isn't helping either. HYPE itself is down roughly 8% on the week as the Hyperliquid complex digests its own May 6 core-contributor unlock. HIP-3 markets do not trade in isolation from their host chain's risk appetite, and right now that risk appetite is on the defensive.
