IP Perp Adds 15% on Hyperliquid While ICP Spot Trades 4x Higher

The Ghost Book Moves Again

The hyna HIP-3 market listing Internet Computer under the ticker IP printed a 15.08% gain over 21 hours, pushing the perp to $0.5692 on just $49,976 of 24-hour volume. That is not a liquid venue absorbing real flow — it is a thin book where a few thousand dollars of demand can paint a double-digit candle.

The bigger problem is that the print does not anchor to anything. ICP spot trades near $2.55 on centralized venues with roughly $57 million in real 24-hour volume. The hyna perp sits at about 22% of that — the same disconnect we flagged last month when this book ripped 53% in six hours on under $5K of open interest while ICP spot sat flat at $2.61. Nothing about this week's tape suggests the gap is closing.

ICP Has Real Catalysts. This Market Isn't Pricing Them.

None of this is to say ICP itself is quiet. DFINITY launched the first national sovereign subnet in Switzerland at Davos, putting 13 independent node providers inside Swiss and Liechtenstein borders to serve regulated workloads for banks, hospitals, and government bodies. That is the kind of institutional-grade infrastructure story that actually moves a mid-cap L1 narrative.

On April 5, Arizona proposed legislation naming ICP as a state reserve asset alongside Bitcoin and XRP — rare institutional recognition for a non-BTC token. Three days later, ICP led the CoinDesk 20 index with a 12.1% single-session gain, outpacing every other constituent during a broad risk-on move tied to a surprise US–Iran ceasefire headline.

Layer that on top of Mission 70, DFINITY's plan to cut ICP annual inflation from 9.72% to roughly 2.92% by year-end through voting-reward caps, node-provider reward limits, and demand-side burns from Cloud Engines and Caffeine AI. There is a real fundamentals story here. The hyna perp at $0.57 is not participating in it.

What the Print Actually Tells You

A 15% move on sub-$50K of volume tells you about order-book depth, not about Internet Computer. The hyna deployer inherited a ticker whose price has not tracked ICP for weeks, and a single small market buy against an empty book can print a candle that means nothing outside this venue.

For size, ICP liquidity lives on Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, and Upbit spot. The hyna book is useful as a data point about HIP-3 builder-deployed perp plumbing, a system where aggregate open interest has pushed past $2.3B as builders list tokenized equities and commodities. But as a price feed for Internet Computer, it is noise. Trade the spot tape if you have a view on ICP. Trade this book only if you have a view on this book.
