BlackBerry's Beat Leaves Wall Street's Targets Spanning $4.50 to $12
BlackBerry delivered a clean fiscal Q1 beat-and-raise on June 25, and the stock is holding most of the reaction at $10.33, up 15.09% over 22 hours and just off its post-print high near $10.57. The numbers were not the controversy. The controversy is how violently analysts disagree on what they are worth: CIBC and Canaccord hiked their targets, Stifel opened coverage at Buy with a $12 target, and RBC still sits at $4.50. At $10.33, BB already trades above every published target except Stifel's, which tells you the market has front-run almost the entire Street.
Mover Brief
What the Quarter Actually Delivered
The print was unambiguous. BlackBerry's fiscal Q1 2027 results, for the quarter ended May 31, put revenue up 26% year-over-year to $152.9 million, above the top of guidance. QNX did $72 million, up 26%, with segment EBITDA up 52% to a 27% margin, while Secure Communications did $74 million, up 24%, on $220 million of annual recurring revenue. Adjusted EBITDA jumped 144% to roughly $36 million, and adjusted EPS of $0.04 landed at the high end of guidance and about double the $0.02 Street consensus.
The cleaner tell was cash: roughly $5 million of operating cash flow, BlackBerry's first positive fiscal first quarter in nine years. Both QNX and Secure Communications cleared the Rule of 40. Management then raised the full-year outlook to $594–$621 million in revenue, $119–$139 million in adjusted EBITDA, and about $100 million in operating cash flow. This was a beat that came with a higher floor, not a one-quarter spike.
The Analyst Spread Is the Story
What makes this move worth a second article isn't the beat — a prior HIPERWIRE note already covered that as it printed. It's that even after a clean beat-and-raise, the Street cannot agree on what BlackBerry is worth within a factor of nearly three.
The day before earnings, Stifel initiated coverage at Buy with a $12 target, arguing the market still misfiles BlackBerry as an auto supplier rather than mission-critical software in the physical-AI and embedded stack. After the print, CIBC lifted its target from $8.50 to $10 and stayed Outperformer, Canaccord nearly doubled its target from $4.40 to $8.20 but held its Hold rating, and RBC kept Sector Perform at $4.50. That is a $4.50-to-$12 band on the exact same quarter. The disagreement is structural: bulls underwrite QNX and Secure Communications compounding as recurring software, while skeptics still anchor to a legacy base and a stock that has doubled twice over in 2026. The earnings didn't resolve that fight; they sharpened it.
Trading Above the Street
Here is the position the tape is in: at $10.33, BB sits above every published price target on the board except Stifel's $12, and it has already cooled off its post-print high near $10.57. The market is not waiting for the Street to catch up — it has priced in more than most of these analysts are willing to underwrite, which is a fragile place to consolidate.
That sets up a clean binary into the next quarter. The bull case needs the guided $137–$148 million of fiscal Q2 revenue to confirm the re-rating and pull the laggard targets up toward the stock. The bear case is mean reversion toward the cluster of sub-$10 marks the moment growth wobbles. With analysts this far apart, the path between those outcomes is the volatility — and on Hyperliquid, the BB perp turned over roughly $47.9 million in the last 24 hours as that disagreement got expressed in size.
